Meet the Team

Emma Vidal
Hello! My name is Emma and I’m a fourth year Math of Computation and Statistics and Data Science double major at UCLA. I found the UNESCO World heritage site interesting because it allows me to apply my technical skills to a humanistic project. Sharing the project manager and data visualization roles, I coordinated our team’s workflow throughout the quarter, contributing to planning and execution throughout, while also creating strong visualizations that made inequities and global trends more interpretable. This experience strengthened my ability to translate quantitative analysis into meaningful narratives and reinforced my interest in using data to better understand complex social systems.

Lawrence Dzhandzhugazov
Hi, my name is Lawrence and I am a 3rd year Statistics & Data Science and Central & East European Studies Double-major at UCLA. The UNESCO World Heritage list was always interesting for me, combining facets of both of my majors, data analysis and international significance. As project manager/data visualizer, I was responsible for creating many of the data visualizations on the website and ensuring overall project quality. For our data visualizations, I used a mix of Python libraries, Tableau, and software learned in our DGT HUM 101 class. I’m interested in continuing my journey in interpreting data after my undergraduate studies, in graduate school and for a future career.

Hi! My name is Emma and I’m a 2nd year Statistics & Data Science and Economics double major. The UNESCO World Heritage List has always fascinated me because I love travelling and it also combines my interests in culture, history, and global politics. As a data and content specialist, my role is to build out clean, organized webpages and synthesize content/visualizations into a coherent narrative for the website. After this class, I hope to take these research and data skills to further explore academic areas that interest me.

Hello! My name is Kennedy and I am a 4th year Statistics and Data Science major. The UNESCO World Heritage List interested me because it is a fascinating way to examine the world through data while also learning about culture, history, and geography. As a data specialist and content contributor, my task is to organize the data, analyze it, and also contribute to the presentation of the data through visualizations and descriptions.

Isabelle Chang
Hello, my name Isabelle and I am a 2nd year Cognitive Science major. As the Web Designer, my role was to oversee the design and structure of our website. Through managing the site’s content, modifying WordPress themes and templates, deciding on a cohesive color palette, and customizing design elements through HTML and CSS, I developed clean and user-friendly interfaces through visually appealing layout design and ensured an intuitive user experience for the website.

Nannan Wang
Hi, my name is Nannan and I’m a 3rd year Computer science student. As the web designer/data specialist, I focused on creating a clean, intuitive, and user-friendly experience that effectively presents cultural and historical narratives.
